George Conduff Gholson was born 9 May 1863 in Kentucky. He married Minnie Blye Gamewell 6 May 1888.
Minnie was the child of Thomas Gamewell and Catherine Carnahan. She was later adopted by a James Nelson Forrest. He was a uncle of Nathan Bedford Forrest.
They had the following children:
Benjamin Franklin Gholson b. 20 December 1890 in Texas
Hazel Alma Gholson b. April 1895 in Texas
Annie Ruth Gholson b. 20 August 1901 in Texas
Vivian Gholson b. 4 December 1906 in Texas
George Leland Gholson b. 16 July 1910
