Today was my final duty as president of Commerce Masonic Lodge in Commerce, Texas
It was a bittersweet moment.
First I thought about my father and grandfather who have both passed away. I believe that both of them would have been proud of me. My father got to see me made a Master Mason in Commerce, Texas. I remember him crying as I grew in masonry. My father received his York Rite degrees in Fort Worth.
My grandfather who passed away before I was born went from Fort Worth to Dallas to become a Scottish Rite mason. I received my Scottish Rite degrees from the same place and consider it an honr. My father got to see me recieve the Scottish Rite degrees. That was an incredible moment in my life and I'll never forget.
I also thought of my ancestors. My step great uncle Judge James Minus Boren in Post, Texas. He was president of that lodge several times. My grand aunt was Worthy Matron of in Post, Texas also.
I also thought about Dr. Calvin Rankin in Fayette County, Texas. He was a mason in that county also . He was a brother to my great-great grand father, Hanniah Luther Rankin.
I also thought about my ancestor Elisha Huff in Fordsville, Kentucky. He fought in the battle of Shiloh and is buried in Fordsville, Kentucky in the Huff cemetery.
I'm proud to say that all of them were masons and I was able to complete the family tradition.
I do not plan on ending my masonic portion of my life but relax a little until I complete my docorate in higher education

Luther Pat Rankin
I've decided to make this a genealogy post and allow people to comment and make corrections and comments on what I've found.
As a result, I will start with my great-grandfather. . . Luther Pat Rankin.
Luther Pat Rankin was born 29 Apr 1854 in LaGrange (Fayette County), Texas
He was the child of Hanniah Luther Rankin and Carolyn N. Lane.
According to a Rankin family bible, he first married Ms. Addie Hagars 29 Oct 1874 in Texas. I'm not sure on the last name at this time. I'm alsoo assuming this was in either Leon or Fayette County, Texas because he was in Leon County, Texas in 1880 and his father was in Fayette County, Texas in 1860.
According to his first marriage, his first child was George Douglas Rankin. My father knew him as Doug. Doug was born 10 August 1875 in Limestone County, Texas. Doug married several times. He married a Ida Rebecca Damron who was born 14 January 1879 in Texas and died 17 April 1924 in Brown County, Texas. He also married Eliza Chancelor about 1896. She was born in Texas around 1880. She passed away 14 January 1905 in Fairfield Texas. Finally George Douglas Rankin married Emma Baker. She was born in 1873 and died 1950 in Texas.
Luther Pat next married a Francis Ann Walker. According to my research she was the daugher of Allen W. Walker and Mary Amanda A Walker from Alabama.
Luther Pat died 23 Sep 1926 in Tarrant County, Texas and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth Texas. Francis Walker died 2 August 1917. She is buried in the Terrace Cemetery in Garza County, Texas.
They had the following children:
Addie Della Rankin - b. 8 Dec 1882 in Mexia, Texas
Oscar Robert Rankin - b. 3 Jan 1884 in Texas
Authur Hollis Rankin - b. 11 Feb. 1886 in Texas
Lillie Mae Rankin - b. 19 April 1889 in Texas
Lonnie Allen Rankin - b. 18 April 1891 in Jewett (Leon County), Texas
Edward Earnest Rankin - b. 16 November 1894 in Texas
Addie first married Charles R. Bailey later married Judge James. R. Minus Boren in Garza County, Texas. She is buried next to him in the Terrace County, Cemetery in Garza County, Texas
Oscar Rankin never married and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas. He passed away 24 Dec 1948.

End of semester
Thank goodness the spring semester is finally over. I can finally get some rest. However, I've just completed my first 15 hours in my doctoral program. Since I work full time, I'm pretty exhausted at this point. I learned a lot in my Introduction to Educational Technology and Statistics courses.
I really enjoyed the Introduction to Education Technology course because it taught me so much abou tht e possible uses of technology in education. I gained some more skills in making rollovers for webpages and intereactive powerpoints. I also became more proficient in making videos for the web. I also enjoyed my statistics course because I like research. I learned how to calculate many formulas.

First Post
I decided to create my own blog which is not affiliated with my educational technology course so that I will have the ability to blog after my course is over. I can also use it as a way to discuss all of the many interests that I have.
